GISH Kitty Hawk Air Society (KHAS)

The Kitty Hawk Air Society is a national AFJROTC academic honor society that recognizes high academic achievement by cadets, provides additional leadership and educational opportunities, encourages service and excellence, and furthers members’ knowledge of the role of air, space and cyber power. Members of KHAS, once inducted, will receive a certificate of recognition and will wear the KHAS badge on the uniform. KHAS members are also authorized to wear the infantry blue KHAS shoulder cord.

Membership Requirement:

A full time high school student who is either an active or reserve cadet in the Air Force Junior ROTC (AFJROTC) unit. An invitation to join KHAS will be extended only to those students who meet the following criteria:

a. Must have successfully completed one semester of AFJROTC.

b. Must have received a grade of “B” in AFJROTC for the preceding semester.

c. Must have a CGPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) without any failing grades (“F”) for the preceding semester.

d. Must have completed at least 5 hours of community service for the preceding semester for freshmen, at least 10 hours for sophomores, and at least 15 hours for juniors and seniors. Community service requirements can be substituted with Color Guard events (to include practice). Each Color Guard event is equivalent to 2.5 community service hours.
